Boson Systems Proton Lite – modular image intensifier

Boson Systems Proton Lite is a French-designed and manufactured image intensifier that offers top-tier performance for both professionals and enthusiasts. Its modular design, Gen 2+ or Gen 3 image intensifier tubes, and autogating make this binocular an excellent choice for demanding use.

Key Features of the Proton Lite Night Vision Binocular

Aviation-grade 7075-T6 aluminum frame – lightweight and durable

  • Made from 7075-T6 aluminum: steel-like rigidity with a total weight of just 545 g*.
  • Durable in extreme conditions: heat, cold, moisture, and mechanical stress have no effect.
*Weight includes Mil-Spec optics, an image intensifier tube, and a battery.

CNC machining and hard anodizing

  • All parts are precisely CNC machined
  • Type III hard anodizing ensures resistance to scratches, wear, and corrosion
  • High-quality, long-lasting finish

Ergonomics and automatic power shut-off

  • Adjustable IPD (interpupillary distance) for optimal viewing comfort
  • Tilting the optical units up activates the automatic power shut-off, extending battery life

Analog and reliable operation without electronics

  • Fully analog image intensifier
  • The aluminum frame withstands temperature fluctuations and mechanical stress
  • Consistent performance even in demanding environments

Modular design – independent optical units

  • Optical units can be removed in seconds with a hex key
  • Enables quick switching between monocular and binocular configurations
  • Each unit is individually waterproof and safe to use on its own

Continuously evolving accessory ecosystem

  • All Boson Systems modules and accessories (Eliminator, BLK Series) are compatible
  • Easy to upgrade and customize for your needs
  • The modular system reduces long-term costs

Military-grade durability – MIL-STD-810H certified

  • Tested in accordance with U.S. military standards
  • Withstands shock, compression, extreme temperatures, water, and cold
  • Reliable performance in the most demanding environments

Designed and manufactured in France

  • Each Proton Lite is assembled at Boson Systems production facilities
  • Each part is carefully inspected to ensure optimal performance
  • Made in France

Warranty

  • The device frame has a lifetime warranty.
  • Image intensifier tubes have a two-year manufacturer's warranty covering manufacturing defects.
  • Normal wear and tear of the image intensifier tubes is not covered by the warranty.

Specifications and compatibility

  • Compatible with all PVS-14 Mil-Spec and standard optics
  • Compatible with MX10160 image intensifier tubes
  • Operates on a single CR123 3V battery
  • Approximately 20 hours of operation on a single battery
  • All configurations are supplied with Gen2+ or Gen3 White autogated image intensifier tubes

Core II & Core III – image intensification tubes

Image intensification tubes for general observation, training, and demanding professional use.

The Core series offers seven performance levels. Core II models are based on Gen 2+ multi-alkali technology, while Core III models use Gen 3 gallium arsenide (GaAs) photocathodes.

The model name number indicates the guaranteed minimum FOM. Each tube supplied meets at least the stated value – it is not an average or typical performance.

Core II – Gen 2+ multi-alkali technology

Core II models feature a Na₂KSb(Cs) multi-alkali photocathode. Autogating and external gain adjustment are standard features.

Core II 1200+
The entry-level model for cost-effective device configurations, training, and backup systems. Suitable for general observation in low light. FOM of at least 1,200 and SNR of at least 20.

Core II 1400+
Higher minimum FOM and SNR than the entry level for varying low-light conditions. FOM of at least 1,400, SNR of at least 22, and photocathode sensitivity of at least 650 µA/lm.

Core II 1600+
An option for demanding observation and professional use. FOM of at least 1,600, SNR of at least 25, and photocathode sensitivity of at least 800 µA/lm.

Core II 1800+
A high-performance option in the Gen 2+ series. FOM of at least 1,800, SNR of at least 28, and photocathode sensitivity of at least 900 µA/lm.

Core II 2000+
The flagship model of the Core II series, with a minimum FOM equivalent to the Core III 2000+ model. FOM of at least 2,000, SNR of at least 28, and photocathode sensitivity of at least 1,000 µA/lm.

Core III – Gen 3 GaAs technology

Based on stated values, Core III models' gallium arsenide photocathodes offer higher sensitivity than Core II models.

Core III 2000+
For demanding professional use and low-light conditions. FOM of at least 2,000, SNR of at least 32, and photocathode sensitivity of at least 1,900 µA/lm.

Core III 2200+
The highest minimum FOM and photocathode sensitivity in the Core series. Suitable for demanding observation, such as on moonless nights and in dense forest cover. FOM of at least 2,200, SNR of at least 32, and photocathode sensitivity of at least 2,000 µA/lm.

What do the performance values mean?

FOM (Figure of Merit) is the product of resolution and signal-to-noise ratio. It helps compare tube performance, but does not alone describe all the characteristics that affect image quality.

Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) describes the ratio of the useful signal to noise. A higher value supports a less noisy image in low light.

Photocathode sensitivity (µA/lm) describes the electrical current produced by the photocathode per unit of incident light.
